Our team is growing and changing, and we are now looking for two vets (part time and full time) to join us here at Bury St Edmunds Vets for Pets!
We are losing our (not so recent!) 3-year graduate to her advanced surgical certificate training so we need a keen team player to join our small but close-knitted team. The Vet team consists of Vanessa and Ana whom have 20+ years’ experience. Ana is currently finishing her Ophthalmology certificate and Vanessa has a post-graduate in Small Furries. We are also supported by peripatetic services from Orthopaedic and Cardiology certificate holders, so a varied case load of exotics, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and cardiac work-ups are routinely going on, giving you plenty of diversity to your day. Ana is keen to let her team grow and will support any interests you have, as well as providing you with additional training / time off.
Our nursing team is composed of 3 FT RVNs and 1 PT RVN. Our head nurse has over 25 years of experience and our VCA’s / reception team all have at least 4 years’ experience.
The practice is bright, air-conditioned and is purpose built to leading industry standards with state-of-the art equipment including digital x-ray, brand new upgraded ultrasound, multi-parameter, tonometer, full state of the art IDEXX lab, blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximeter, v-gel and separate dog, cat and isolation wards. The team sees a wide variety of cat, dog, rabbit and exotic medical and surgical cases and offer 20-minute consults as standard. Acupuncture and basic physiotherapy are also carried out in practice.
Considering all of the above, the position would suit a full time recent graduate (up to 40h/week) in search for their first role or excellent overall support and an experienced part time colleague – that said, are open to discussion on hours, the right person matters most!
In addition to a rewarding role in a superb location, you can also expect to receive:
1. Competitive salary up to £65K (depending on experience / diploma)
2. Recent graduates starting salary £38K (you would be enrolled in the 2-year Vets for Pets Recent Graduate Programme starting in September 2026)
3. Excellent career opportunities and development due to our varied case load
4. 1 in 4 Saturdays (9am-6pm, sole charge – with support for recent graduate)
5. No OOHs
