As our Education Welfare Officer, you’ll play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to attendance and engagement—ensuring they feel supported, understood, and empowered.
Responsibilities
* Investigate and follow up on absences, including home visits
* Analyse attendance data and produce actionable reports
* Lead attendance panel meetings and prepare documentation for referrals and legal proceedings
* Support students through safeguarding processes and multi-agency collaboration
* Maintain accurate records and liaise with staff to ensure attendance issues are addressed promptly
This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of our pastoral care team.
Qualifications and Skills
* Qualified: A’ Levels (or equivalent) and 5 GCSEs including English and Maths
* Experience: At least 6 months’ relevant experience in education, youth work, or welfare
* Organised and Analytical: Able to manage data, prioritise tasks, and produce clear reports
* Empathetic and Resilient: Comfortable working with young people and families, even in challenging situations
* Tech-Savvy: Confident using ICT systems (experience with Bromcom is a bonus)
* Collaborative: Able to work independently and as part of a dedicated team
* Knowledgeable: Familiar with safeguarding, attendance procedures, and multi-agency work (desirable)
