This Senior Mechanical Project Engineer role will suit someone who enjoys leading mechanical engineering delivery on site, solving technical issues in real time and guiding teams through multi‑disciplinary installation works. You will be joining a respected engineering contractor delivering a major Navy upgrade project within a nuclear‑regulated environment. The Barrow‑in‑Furness site is undergoing a significant modernisation programme to support future submarine production commitments. It is secure, strategically important and offers genuine long‑term stability. The team is delivering a multi‑disciplinary M&E package worth around £10 million for this phase with further work expected as the wider programme progresses. The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer Role Involves:
7. Leading mechanical building services delivery on a complex regulated site
8. Coordinating mechanical packages including HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, pipework and general mechanical installation
9. Supporting planning, progress reporting and engineering reviews
10. Identifying risks and helping shape mitigation strategies
11. Managing specialist subcontractors ensuring quality, safety and programme targets are met
12. Maintaining strong communication with the project team and customer representatives
13. Ensuring engineering solutions meet specification, technical standards and commercial objectives
They Are Looking For:
14. British Nationals only due to nuclear regulatory requirements
15. Able to meet BPSS clearance standards
16. Strong background in mechanical building services
17. Experience in regulated environments such as nuclear, defence or energy is ideal
18. Apprentice‑trained or vocational background valued
19. HNC, HND or Degree or QBE considered
20. Confident leading engineering teams on live construction sites
21. Comfortable coordinating supervisors and managing daily work fronts
Working Pattern:
22. Monday to Friday
23. Early start on Monday
24. Early finish on Friday around lunchtime
25. Long‑term programme with consistent pipeline expected
