Senior Bid Manager

As a Senior Bid Manager at FCC Environment, you will lead the delivery of bidding activities from the initial opportunity assessment stage right through to successful contract handover. You will manage cross-functional bidding teams, take ownership of tender quality, and play a pivotal role in securing new and renewed service contracts across municipal collection, streetscene, grounds maintenance, treatment, and/or disposal services.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week.

What will you be doing?
- Lead all bidding activities and manage bidding teams
- Develop detailed service designs and present recommendations to the Head of Development
- Prepare high-quality tender submissions, project delivery plans, and contract documentation
- Ensure continuous improvement in the quality and presentation of tender submissions
- Co-ordinate and monitor project/programme delivery plans against timelines and budgets
- Interpret Local Authority procurement documentation and develop compliant tender responses
- Liaise collaboratively with multiple departments (Operations, Fleet, SHEQ, Technical, Legal, Finance, HR, etc.)
- Prepare reports and documentation for approval committees
- Support positive customer relationships and contribute to the development pipeline
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ and risk management procedures
What are we looking for?
- A strong track record in managing and delivering complex bids or major projects
- At least five years’ experience in a professional tendering or project development environment, ideally within waste management
- Experience preparing high-quality technical, financial, and legal project proposals
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- An understanding of procurement legislation and tender routes
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to deliver to time, budget, and specification
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen
- The ability to interpret procurement documentation and manage the full tender lifecycle
- The ability to engage cross-functional teams effectively
- Highly driven, resilient, and committed to achieving results
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- The ability to work collaboratively, re-evaluate priorities, and adapt positively to change
- Confident in managing third-party relationships
