Planning Engineer – National Grid
Unlock your superpower as a Planning Engineer with National Grid. In this role you will plan and manage the year‑ahead operational plan for our site‑based engineering teams in London, ensuring the electricity transmission network has the resources and access it needs to meet our business and net zero targets. The position is flexible on location across London and is hybrid, with a company car for travel.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and managing the year‑ahead operational plan for 50 sites across the London region.
* Securing sufficient network access and allocating specialist engineering resources for major infrastructure, new customer connections and engineering works.
* Co‑ordinating sub‑station engineering projects, prioritising resource shortfalls and movements in national priority.
* Organising and chairing monthly planning and performance meetings with Zonal Operational Managers to discuss outage access, resources and KPI monitoring.
What You’ll Need
* Minimum level 3 electrical or mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
* Experience prioritising and allocating specialist resources across multiple plans.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a broad stakeholder group.
* Competence with Microsoft Office.
* Knowledge of the electricity transmission network beneficial.
* Full UK driving licence.
