What’s the role?
The Contracts Engineer shall be responsible for managing projects and all associated commercial obligations. Overall responsibilities include:
* Daily management of allocated projects through the full lifecycle to meet programme, technical, and commercial milestones.
* Ensuring all contractual commitments are understood, communicated, and adhered to.
* Managing risks and issues, taking corrective actions when they occur.
* Profitably managing projects.
Travel requirements: The position is based at our offices in Blackwood, but irregular travel on company business may be necessary. A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage delivery or shipment of equipment from BRUSH Switchgear, liaising with the customer and raising all required documentation.
* Liaise with the site services team, customer, and external transport company to arrange site survey visits and installation works; ensure related reports and acceptance documentation are sent to the customer.
* Manage letters of credit and export documentation for business export compliance.
* Handle invoice requirements of contracts, including stage payments and payments required before product shipment.
* Monitor product in storage to ensure storage charges are processed per contractual agreement.
* Identify, submit, and negotiate contract variations for customer changes identified before contract completion.
* Maintain order book management to ensure sales order lines are promised and invoiced in line with contractual or business commitments.
* Raise or update quality event documents where required, related to order fulfilment.
* Liaise with Key Account Managers and Business Development Managers to provide project progress reports and support periodic customer contract reviews.
* Maintain effective systems to monitor multiple product supplies under Utility Framework Agreements.
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience in contract or project management.
* An electrical background with ONC/HNC/BTEC qualifications (advantageous).
* Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Power Apps, SharePoint).
* Electrical awareness (training can be provided).
* Strong customer relationship building skills, internally and externally.
* Self‑motivated, confident, mature, responsible, and flexible approach toward delivering and improving work objectives.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Good time‑management skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
* Demonstrable problem‑solving results.
* Influencing and negotiation skills.
* A sound working knowledge of MV switchgear is desirable, though training will be provided.
