Role Overview
We are seeking a versatile and proactive Mechanical Design & Project Engineer to join our team. This role combines mechanical CAD design with project management responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership from concept through to delivery.
You will play a key role in developing designs, managing timelines, and ensuring successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Create and develop mechanical designs using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
* Produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation for manufacture
* Manage projects from concept through to completion, including planning, scheduling, and coordination
* Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
* Ensure designs meet technical, regulatory, and quality standards
* Support prototyping, testing, and design improvements
* Monitor project progress, budgets, and risks
* Contribute to continuous improvement of design and project processes
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in mechanical design using CAD software
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
* Experience managing engineering or technical projects
* Ability to work independently in a small business environment
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
* Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Desirable Skills
* Experience in a small or growing business environment
* Knowledge of project management tools or methodologies (e.g., Agile, PRINCE2)
* Experience with prototyping or hands-on engineering work
* Familiarity with relevant industry standards and compliance requirements
