Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Nurse Prescriber (ADHD) / Independent Prescriber. In this role, you will have the chance to work at our stunning CQC-Regulated Specialist Neurodevelopmental Clinic located in the heart of Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne. Our clinic is dedicated to providing national, regional and sometimes international specialist assessment and support services to neurodivergent individuals, and our team includes just over twenty compassionate multidisciplinary clinicians who are experts in their respective fields.
This role involves delivering specialised patient care, particularly in the assessment and treatment of individuals with ADHD, within a highly specialised multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will utilise their advanced clinical skills to prescribe medications and develop personalised treatment plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients presenting with ADHD and related conditions, ensuring accurate diagnosis and formulation of treatment strategies.
* Prescribe appropriate medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and individual patient needs.
* Monitor patient progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimise health outcomes.
* Provide expert advice on medication management, potential side effects, and lifestyle modifications.
* Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, and primary care teams, to ensure holistic patient care.
* Maintain detailed and accurate clinical records in compliance with legal and organisational standards.
* Educate patients and their families about ADHD, medication use, and ongoing management strategies to promote adherence and understanding.
* Stay informed about the latest developments in ADHD treatment and prescribing practices through continuous professional development.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or alternative appropriate body.
* Hold a valid independent prescriber qualification recognised within the UK healthcare system.
* Demonstrable experience in patient care, particularly within mental health or neurodevelopmental differences such as ADHD.
* Strong knowledge of anatomy relevant to neurodevelopmental and psychiatric conditions.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
* Ability to work independently whilst maintaining effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to clinical governance standards.
