Would you like to work in a rural practice in the beautiful towns of Bakewell and Tideswell? We are easily accessible from Chesterfield, Sheffield and Buxton. We are looking for someone to manage our dispensaries at both sites. We dispense to approximately 3600 patients. You would be part of a team of supportive dispensers and contribute to development.
We have 2 sites, Bakewell and Tideswell, each with a dispensary. The practice is led by 2 GP partners with a practice director (practice manager), a reception manager and operations managers, supported by an administration team. GPs and a nursing team work across both sites.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the dispensary manager. There may be occasions when other tasks are required depending on workload and staffing levels:
* a. To be responsible for planning and allocating work for all dispensary staff
* b. To oversee all dispensing matters within the practice, checking colleagues' dispensing as required
* c. To dispense prescriptions for patients
* d. To collect prescription charges from patients, cash up and balance monies received
* e. To manage the monies at the end of the month, aligning to reimbursements
* f. To cross reference number and value of prescription charges against statements, ensuring accuracy
* g. To coordinate requests for repeat prescriptions
* h. To ensure repeat prescriptions are processed within a set timeframe
* i. To manage the return of medicines from patients
* j. To deal with uncollected medication in accordance with current policy
* k. To manage stock levels within the dispensary, minimising wastage and expenditure
* l. To promote a safe working environment, conforming to legislation, storing drugs appropriately and securely
* m. To manage the cold chain process and ensure temperatures are recorded
* n. To conduct stock-takes in accordance with guidance
* o. To assess invoices for payment and identify VAT for Personally Administered drugs
* p. To assist with QOF and IIF targets
* q. To be responsible for line management, appraisal and development of dispensary staff
* r. To develop clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice in collaboration with a supervisor
* s. To support patient discharge medications with an appropriate staff member
* t. To create a robust process for personally administered drugs, ensuring all products are claimed for
* u. Liaise with suppliers and ensure discount schemes are in place
Secondary responsibilities
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the dispensary manager may be requested to:
* a. Deputise for the Dispensary/Practice Lead in their absence
* b. Partake in audits as directed by the audit lead
* c. Mentor and guide trainee dispensary staff and students
* d. Review latest guidance, ensuring compliance with NICE, CQC, etc.
* e. Support the Dispensary Lead/Practice Manager in producing newsletters or bulletins
* f. Line manage the dispensary staff in accordance with current practice policy
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: NVQ level 2 dispensing unless holding a level 3 Technician qualification
* Desirable: NVQ level 3 Pharmacy Technician
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working in a dispensary would be advantageous
* Desirable: Experience of working in a rural dispensary or general practice
