We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager within our Operations team to help support our Automotive business. We are the world's leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers, as well as tier one and two suppliers within the automotive industry. Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables.
A Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads and develops the manufacturing engineering team, while maintaining a Safety-First approach in all activities. This role drives manufacturing excellence by running the daily business in line with the budget and optimizing structures and processes by applying Lean Manufacturing methods and sharing best practices in global teams.
Responsibilities:
* Lead a Safety-first approach, maintaining a zero-accident culture, and ensure compliance with work, accident prevention, and environmental protection regulations.
* Develop and manage the Manufacturing Engineering budget, monitoring quality and quantity of output, and taking action to prevent scrap and defects.
* Support new product development through DFM and DFSS.
* Design and develop new manufacturing processes, including equipment specifications, in line with the latest technology advancements and global manufacturing standards.
* Optimize manufacturing efficiency and lean excellence through flexible manufacturing structures and improvement through Lean Manufacturing methods.
* Develop PFMEA, Process Flow, and Work instructions, and manage plant layout to support lean process flow and optimization of total facility footage.
* Establish and maintain internal capabilities, strengthen the organization through training, career development, and recruiting, and achieve Manufacturing objectives.
* Adhere to internal and external Business Processes and Certifications, and all local legal requirements.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in operational leadership.
* Automotive experience.
* Experience in understanding financial statements.
* Experience in people management.
* Experience in project management.
* Experience in workplace design and product development is an asset.
* Ability to lead with targets to ensure continuously improving manufacturing engineering performance.
* Working knowledge of operational metrics and improvement tools.
* Adequate experience in the use of common IT solutions.
* Hands-on mentality and excellent English communication skills.
* Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
