Psychology Graduate – SEN Teaching Assistant in a Trauma/Mental Health School
Are you interested in supporting children with adverse childhood experiences and trauma? Would you like to build your experience working with Complex Learning Disabilities? One of the top schools for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs is looking for a Psychology Graduate to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with complex mental health needs. Candidates with relevant experience will also be considered. The Mental Health School is in Maidenhead. The SEN children are aged 5 to 11 and require consistent, ongoing support to provide high-quality, child-centred care. Graduates in a similar field (e.g., Psychology, Criminology) will also be considered. The role is full-time and long-term, with interviews commencing ASAP.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside therapists and psychologists on-site at the school. You will be mentored and have the opportunity to shadow sessions, gaining invaluable experience working with Special Needs and Mental Health issues. This role is suitable for aspiring educational or occupational psychologists, therapeutic support workers, or SEN teachers.
The school is looking for a Psychology Graduate who can bring enthusiasm, passion and experience to the classroom. They seek a proactive and adaptable SEN TA who can use initiative. This is a great opportunity for aspiring teachers, educational/occupational/clinical psychologists or therapists.
Responsibilities
* Support SEN pupils with adverse experiences and complex mental health needs (ages 5–11).
* Collaborate with therapists and psychologists on-site and contribute to child-centred planning.
* Shadow sessions and gain experience in therapeutic and educational settings.
* Provide consistent, proactive support to promote high-quality care.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Level 3 qualifications or higher; a Degree is desirable.
* Experience with SEN or mental health-focused contexts is advantageous.
* Ideal for Psychology Graduates seeking roles in education or therapy support.
* Location: Maidenhead
* Salary: 85–100 per day
* Hours: Full-time, Mon-Fri 8:30am to 4:00pm
* Start: ASAP
Note: This role is for a Psychology Graduate to work with SEN children who have complex needs. Suitable experience can include work with SEN children and/or adults in any setting, including family contexts.
