Teaching Assistant – Reception (SEN Support)
A welcoming Catholic primary school near Blackhorse Road Station is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis, starting immediately after half term.
This full-time Teaching Assistant position runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm, offering £90–£110 per day depending on experience. This is a rewarding opportunity within a supportive and values-led school community.
The successful Teaching Assistant will be supporting two boys in Reception who are non-verbal. You will provide consistent 1:1 support, help implement communication strategies, and assist them in accessing learning and developing socially and emotionally. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure structured, personalised support is in place.
We are looking for a caring yet confident Teaching Assistant who can maintain firm and consistent boundaries while nurturing a positive learning environment. Experience supporting non-verbal children is essential. Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, or similar communication approaches is highly desirable. Early Years or Reception experience is beneficial.
The ideal candidate will be patient, calm, proactive, and confident managing behaviour appropriately. Reliability, commitment, and the ability to work five days per week are essential for this long-term role.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and making a meaningful difference from the start.
If you are available for an immediate start after half term and are seeking a long-term position in a supportive Catholic school, we would love to hear from you
