Harbor Health also operates two Programs for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly in Mattapan and Brockton, providing comprehensive healthcare, transportation, and social services for more than 450 frail elders who continue to live with dignity and independence in the community, along with a Woman, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program.
To help further the mission of Harbor, we are looking for a talented Dental Assistant to join our team at the Harbor Community Health Center-Plymouth.
Role:
The Dental Assistant prepares and maintains all clinical areas for optimal patient treatment, assists chair-side during treatment, ensures equipment is maintained in proper working order, and implements infection control duties as per agency procedures and protocols.
Responsibilities:
1. Reviews medical charts with providers, performs patient intake, and documents in Electronic Dental Record (EDR) following protocols.
2. Prepares all clinical areas for treatment each session.
3. Provides chairside assistance to dentists in all procedures according to training.
4. Enters relevant patient information into EDR following training and protocol.
5. Provides post-op instructions to patients regarding their procedures.
6. Implements daily infection control procedures in compliance with CDC and state-specific practices.
7. Exposes radiographs and duplicates radiographs as directed or in accordance with state law and HHSI protocol.
8. Performs routine maintenance on equipment.
9. Maintains checklists and logs on equipment, oxygen tanks, eyewash stations, and code bags as required.
10. Enters data and maintains the electronic lab log for prosthetic cases.
11. Prepares all clinical areas for clinic closing following protocol.
12. Provides guidance and support to Dental Assistants in training.
13. Monitors inventory and maintains supplies per established protocols.
14. May be required to report to another location or remain at work to provide coverage due to operational needs.
Requirements:
1. Dental Assisting Certification from an accredited program (preferred).
2. Current Massachusetts Dental Assisting License.
3. Radiology Certification or verification of approval to take radiographs from BORID.
4. Current BLS (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers).
5. Computer literacy; basic skills in Microsoft Office 365; EMR experience (EPIC/OCHIN) preferred.
