Technical Lead - Scotland (hybrid) - 12months contract
One of our public sector clients is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to guide and support the enhancement of products within their development team. This role will involve leading a dynamic development team while ensuring the continuous improvement of technical processes and delivering high-quality solutions in line with architectural roadmaps.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the Development Team : Oversee both tactical and strategic tasks, ensuring solutions align with engineering principles.
Collaboration : Work closely with Product Management, Service Design, and Agile Delivery teams to prioritize backlogs, improve services, and maintain a continuous delivery culture.
Technical Leadership : Champion architectural best practices, define and assess technical options, and ensure developed software meets non-functional requirements like security, accessibility, and performance.
Mentoring : Coach team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.
Disaster Recovery Assurance : Support the disaster recovery assurance process for digital services, ensuring sustainable recovery objectives.
Required experience:
Significant expertise with AWS (CDK, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, CloudFormation, Aurora/Postgres ).
Proficiency in Typescript, React, and modern UI frameworks .
Extensive experience leading cross-functional teams, implementing solutions using agile methodologies, and mentoring developers.
Knowledge of cloud monitoring, event-driven architectures, and testing frameworks (e.g., Cypress ).
Strong HTML / CSS skills
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
This is a hybrid role based in Edinburgh or Glasgow at least a few times per month.
Offering a day rate of around £ 500 per day (outside ir35)
Contract duration: 12 months with possible extensions
