Our IT Operations team deliver a professional and high-quality service that supports the diverse strategic and operational priorities of the Royal Household, for over 1500 users across multiple UK locations and when working overseas.
Reporting to the IT Operations and Network Manager, you’ll work with a small team of experts to maintain and support our portfolio of IT systems, ensuring they continue to underpin the organisation’s operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* As Lead Systems Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of live services, including IT applications and infrastructure operations, to ensure a high quality consistent digital experience for our diverse user base.
* Working in close collaboration with the wider Operations Team, you’ll act as technical supervisor and be the point of escalation for 2nd/3rd line incidents, problems and changes, as well as helping to develop robust standard operating procedures and maintain our IT infrastructure.
* Bringing specialist technical support for projects, you’ll ensure delivery of all non-functional requirements and Continual Service Improvement (CSI).
* With oversight of our IT Operations solutions and services (physical and virtual), you’ll follow industry best practice and standards, evolve service requirements, and identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) throughout the service delivery lifecycle.
* As part of a matrixed structure, you’ll help to supervise, coach and develop our early-career team members, sharing your expertise to enable performance and grow a pipeline of future talent.
* And in everything you do, you’ll play an active role in supporting our future strategy and digital aspirations, identifying improvements and opportunities to innovate and evolve

About you
Essential Criteria:
* With a relevant qualification and experience in a similar role, you’ll have had exposure to a wide range of technologies, systems and applications (including Microsoft products), and you’ll be keen to apply your expertise in a busy and complex environment.
* Experience of working across both server and cloud-based solutions.
* With an understanding of the management processes associated with IT applications and infrastructure, you can oversee technical change programmes.
* At your best managing a varied workload with competing demands, you’ll have an analytical and methodical approach, and can remain effective when balancing strategic priorities alongside busy daily operations.
* With experience of incident management and a natural problem solver, you can remain level-headed and accurate under pressure.
* Comfortable dealing with a range of stakeholders, you can communicate complex information to customers with varying levels of technical understanding.
* A great team player, you’ll be passionate about developing and motivating colleagues.
* With a customer focus, you'll enjoy working alongside your team to deliver exceptional support in all that you do.
