The purpose of this post is to work effectively with the class teacher(s) to support play-based, child-centred pedagogy within primary.

Scalloway Primary School is a non-denominational school located in the village of Scalloway, 7 miles from Lerwick. The school's catchment area includes Scalloway, Trondra, and the Tingwall Valley as far north as Griesta.
The school has 7 classes in the Primary Department and a large Early Years and Childcare Department (delivering up to 30 hours per week). There are currently 175 pupils on the school and ELC roll combined. Secondary education for years S1-S6 is provided at Anderson High School in Lerwick. The school canteen provides hot and cold meals daily.
Adjacent to the Primary School and ELC are Hame fae Hame (Childcare provision) and the Health Centre. The school utilizes the Games hall and swimming pool facilities located next door.
The school is managed by Head Teacher Mrs. Morag Fox and two Principal Teachers. The current teaching staff includes 5 full-time class teachers and 2 job-shares. PE, Art, and Music are provided by peripatetic specialists, with instrumental instruction timetabled for P5-7 pupils. Support for Learning teachers and Learning Support Workers provide additional support as needed.

* The pay rate includes Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4808 per hour.
* This is a permanent part-time post for 17.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, plus 6.24 weeks (pro-rata) paid holiday during school holidays.
* Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG update prior to employment.
* No relocation package is available.
* Interview expenses within Shetland will be reimbursed.
