Learning Support Assistant (Year 1)
Location: Portsmouth
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Salary: Dependent on experience
Start Date: September 2025
A primary school in Portsmouth is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support a Year 1 class from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for supporting young learners and helping them thrive during this crucial stage of their development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide support to individual pupils and small groups, both in and out of the classroom
* Work collaboratively with the class teacher to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons
* Support pupils with varying needs, including those with special educational needs (SEN)
* Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources
* Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and emotional well-being
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with children in an educational setting
* A nurturing, patient, and flexible approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A good understanding of early years and KS1 education
* Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
