Overview
As University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) has recently expanded the Respiratory service to create a full rotational model across both Bristol and Weston sites, we are pleased to advertise for one Consultant Respiratory Physician. This post is expected to cover both inpatient and outpatient activity across both sites, which will be determined through the job planning process.
The successful candidate will develop special interests to extend the spectrum of respiratory services offered at both sites and support services currently being developed in the department. The asthma service is a particular area that we wish to recruit to, but other specialist interests could be accommodated. The post holder will undertake general respiratory clinics as well as a specialist interest clinic and support bronchoscopy. There will be inpatient responsibility for the respiratory wards on a rotational basis. The post includes a commitment to the current Weston Consultant on-call rota out of hours.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of their CCT and ideally have NHS experience. However, non-UK applicants wishing to apply for specialist registration could be considered on a fixed-term basis.
Consultants are also expected to work with service managers and clinical colleagues to manage their caseload in a flexible way, to ensure clinical, national, and local priorities—such as maximum waiting times for referral to treatment—are achieved. The successful applicant will have responsibility for the care of the patients entrusted to them. All consultants are expected to have a flexible attitude towards the work of the Directorate.
