As part of our reshaping operations programme, a new role of Divisional Senior Clinical Leader has been established, offering an exciting opportunity to join the team in Nottinghamshire. The role will be accountable to the Divisional Senior Manager (Quality).
You will be responsible for establishing and embedding a supportive, motivational and compassionate leadership culture across station‑based operational teams. This key leadership position supports EMAS in delivering its vision and values, focuses on clinical leadership, quality assurance and improvement, and aligns priorities with the Care Quality Commission regulatory framework across caring, responsive, effective, well‑led and safe domains. The main area of work will be in the eastern part of the Nottinghamshire division.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the direct clinical development, support, supervision, and leadership of a team of operational staff, including those in preceptorship, university entrants, and staff requiring additional support or supervision. The DSCL will be allocated to defined areas and groups of stations and will work closely with Station Managers to deliver clinical and quality metrics and outcomes. The DSCL will also manage the clinical aspects of staff appraisal in conjunction with the SM team.
As an experienced senior clinician, you will respond operationally while supervising and mentoring staff on performance, behaviour and clinical ability. Assurance of clinical quality and standards will be achieved through planned observation shifts with clinical staff. The DSCL may be called upon to support staff from within their division or across the Trust at critical incidents and provide clinical leadership and interventions, within scope of practice.
The role will work across 7 days, with a requirement to work out of hours and weekends to support operational delivery.
Qualifications
* Current clinical registration
* Teaching qualification e.g. AET or PTLLS (in place or studying for) or to achieve within 18 months of commencement
* Assessment qualification e.g. CAVA or equivalent (in place or studying for) or to achieve within 18 months of commencement
Experience
* Relevant operational experience in managerial roles
* Evidence of supervising and leading diverse teams of clinical staff
* Experience of working in a leadership position in the public sector and/or ambulance service
