City of York Council is looking for a highly motivated, committed, and enthusiastic individual to join our Adaptations and Healthy Homes Team, as we continue to fulfil our commitment to provide and support healthy and sustainable housing in York.
The team is recruiting an Occupational Therapist (Housing) for this role, which provides an exciting opportunity to be part of a proactive team that supports residents to live safely in their own homes, by delivering major adaptations through the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG).
You will be working as one of two Occupational Therapists supporting the Disabled Facilities Grant programme, within the Healthy and Sustainable Homes Service and will be visiting residents to assess their individual needs and carrying out interventions to prevent falls in the home.
You will be part of a wider team of Technical Officers, Occupational Therapists, and Healthy Homes Officers, delivering major adaptations and healthy homes interventions throughout the city.
The Successful Candidate Must Have
* a BSC/diploma in Occupational Therapy and to be registered with Health Professionals Council
* two-year post-graduate experience
* knowledge of a range of interventions and services provided by the wider Social Services and other partner agencies.
* excellent verbal and written communication skills
* the ability to work to their own initiative and as part of a committed team
* first class organisational and time management skills
* competence in IT for data collection, case management, communication and research.
You will be supported in your role through regular supervision and training opportunities.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
