Babington are currently supporting Scotland Shop for the recruitment of a Digital Marketing Apprentice for their office. Scotland Shop is a retail business with an impressive reputation for providing quality fabrics, clothing and interiors products in over 500 tartans through our e-commerce website, Edinburgh, Crieff and Albany (USA) stores as well as events across Scotland, Canada and the USA. Everything we do is centred around the communities we live and work in, our people, our customers, our business. We are global. We believe that what we do matters. We will stand up for it and fight for it. We obsess over quality, both in the things we make and the people who make them happen. We are rooted in Scotland, we weave tradition into every thread, crafting timeless products designed to be passed down the generations. \n\nWhat does the role involve? \n⢠You will implement core changes to improve our websiteâs performance. For example, adding titles and alt text for all images and page titles and meta descriptions for all pages. \n⢠You will review key pages ensuring all content is up to date and SEO friendly. \n⢠You will record all updates, adding review dates where necessary. \n⢠You will analyse completed activity, reporting on key metrics \n⢠You will build new product, category and news pages on the website. \n⢠You will redirect and remove old pages from the site as appropriate. \n⢠We will look for you to understand and become aware of the competitive landscape. You will spend time understanding who our most important competitors are, and what they are doing. \n⢠You will work with our external developers to resolve bugs and implement improvements to the website. \n⢠We will look for you to suggest website improvements and share your thoughts and ideas. \n⢠We will look for you to understand elements of AI the web team could introduce to improve our website. \n⢠You will also work with the wider marketing team to promote ScotlandShop. \n⢠We will look for you to invest in on going self-learning in all aspects of SEO. Software we use \n⢠Craft CMS. Our site is run on Craft CMS and you will need to become well-versed in using this. \n⢠SEranking. Over time, you will become skilled in using SEranking to evaluate website SEO performance, identifying areas of potential growth and monitoring competitive pressures. \n⢠Googe Search Console. Use GSC to monitor site performance. \n⢠Google Analytics. Over time, become you will be fluent in using Google Analytics to provide in-depth analysis of site performance. \n⢠Adobe Express or similar. Use Adobe Express to format images for the website. At ScotlandShop, our people are one of the most important parts of our business. We are currently looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about providing great digital marketing and would like to pursue a career in marketing. This apprenticeship opportunity will give you the chance to spend 12 months building the skills and confidence that come with training in a paid full-time job, all the time surrounded by a friendly, highly experienced team who will support you every step of the way. \n\nThe successful candidate will be working towards achieving their SCQF 7 Diploma in Digital Marketing. Must Haves \n⢠You will be very interested in websites and how the online world will develop over the next few years. This job is focused on our website. \n⢠You will be willing to develop new skills. We are not expecting you to have all the software skills you need from day one and we will give you time within the working week to learn, but we will need you to develop the skills. You will need to become confident within Craft, the CMS that drives the website. \n⢠You are happy and feel confident to write. This job will require you to think, research and write, whether itâs a short sentence for an alt text for an image or \nlonger copy for a product page or blog post. We need someone who will write, not rely on AI to write for them. \n⢠Be inquisitive and prepared to think differently. Is there a different way of doing something, could we try something? \n⢠Calm under pressure. On occasion, things go wrong. You must be able to deal with issues calmly, ensuring colleagues & agencies are kept up to date. \n⢠Be willing to contribute as part of the wider marketing team. The web team sits as part of marketing and it is important that there is consistency across all our marketing. \n\nNice to haves, but not essential \n⢠If you have some knowledge of the software listed or similar, thatâs great. \n⢠Website management experience. \n⢠Social media experience. ScotlandShop are active on most major social medial channels and experience across a wide range of social media would be useful. \n⢠English Higher. Weâre more interested in your writing than your qualifications but an English Higher would be good. \n⢠An eye for design. We sell stunning Scottish made tartan and an eye for a design and layout is helpful.
