Job Description
Join our team at the Science Museum Cafe in London, United Kingdom! We're looking for a friendly and efficient Fixed Term Cafe Assistant to provide exceptional service to our visitors. As a key member of our cafe team, you'll contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere while serving delicious food and beverages.
* Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the cafe area
* Restock supplies and assist with inventory management
* Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth cafe operations
* Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
* Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee and tea
* Handle cash and credit card transactions with precision
* Adhere to all food safety and handling procedures
* Assist with setting up and closing down the cafe as needed
Qualifications
* Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
* Knowledge of food handling and safety practices
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
* Strong team player with good communication skills
* Previous experience in food service or cafe environment preferred
* Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
* Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed
* Food Safety Certification, and ability to engage with museum visitors are a plus
