Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist with an interest in stroke to join our Speech and Language Therapy team. The post will primarily be based on the acute stroke unit at University Hospital of North Tees, with one day per week providing input within the stroke pathway at South Tees.
You will provide high quality specialist assessment and rehabilitation to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties following stroke.
Responsibilities
* Conduct specialist assessment and management of adults with communication and swallowing disorders predominantly secondary to stroke.
* Work independently and as part of the Stroke MDT to deliver individualized therapy plans.
* Plan, implement, and evaluate evidence‑based therapy programmes for patients on the acute stroke unit and within the stroke service at South Tees.
* Provide training and supervision to team members, other professionals, carers, volunteers, and students.
* Support planning and delivery of training to other healthcare professionals within the Stroke team.
* Collaborate with clinical lead therapists and the multidisciplinary team to support patients’ rehabilitation outcomes.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist.
* Experience working with adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties.
* Demonstrated interest and experience in managing a stroke caseload.
* Ability to plan and deliver individualized therapy plans and training sessions.
* Strong communication skills and the capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
