Responsibilities
* To perform physiotherapy assessment of patients with neurological presentations on the Stroke and neuro rehabilitation pathways to develop and deliver an individualised treatment program.
* To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate positive rehab outcomes and timely, co-ordinated discharge planning.
* To fully support initiatives to reduce length of stay, including key working.
* To work flexibly, being willing to provide support on other rehabilitation wards when necessary.
* To hold responsibility for own caseload, working with and without direct supervision.
* Provide support for the clinical supervision for a rotational Band 5 physiotherapist, student physiotherapists and give direction to members of support staff.
* To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to inform own and general Physiotherapy practice within the unit.
* The service is moving towards a 7-day working model; therefore, flexibility to support weekend and extended working patterns may be required in the future.
* To perform Specialist physiotherapy assessment for stroke and patients with neurological conditions.
* To independently manage own clinical caseload, undertaking comprehensive neurological assessments and using advanced clinical reasoning skills to formulate and deliver individual and group treatment programmes.
* To work alongside the Highly Specialist Neuro physiotherapy team lead with complex patients and be responsible for providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment plans.
* To advise and educate patients and their families/ carers on the management of individual problems. Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid and informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.
* Work effectively with those patients whose first language is not English and take into consideration diversity issues in particular differing cultural awareness.
