Bayspace Platform – Workspace & Events Manager The Role:An exciting opportunity is offered through this role to manage the workspace, plan and deliver Bayspace Platform, a year-round accelerated-learning programme of events, masterclasses and workshops at Bayspace, St Ives. Bayspace is an enterprise hub with unique, flexible event spaces, and spectacular views of the harbour and bay in St Ives, Cornwall – the venue is an enabled, accessible, iconic listed-building, which inspires creativity and connection; its users and audiences are diverse, including communities, members, businesses, network partners and founders.As the Workspace & Events Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the management of the space, develop, and deliver the Bayspace Platform Programme, tailored to achieve commercial, learning and social impact objectives, including for existing and prospective members, founder and partner events, and private bookings. Alongside your strategic and creative responsibilities, you will be a key member of the small operational team ‘on the ground’, running the building, exhibitions, training, promotions, talks and events from start to finish.This is a year-round operational management role on a flexible schedule, and an opportunity to put your stamp on this exciting community venue in St Ives - it’s a chance both to have a meaningful impact within Bayspace and alongside partners, to support sustainable economic, social and cultural development in Cornwall.What you will do:Operational ManagementResponsibility for operational team management, planning, digital requirements and budgeting, in conjunction with the CIC Board, partners and team:Manage the weekly rota and support the team to deliver in specific areas, including café, events, and general operations.Build together with the Workspace Coordinator on a vibrant member community through new member acquisition.Work with the Directors to ensure Bayspace is on track towards commercial targets, and collaboratively identify and test ways to iterate and improve on performance.Coordinate third-party marketing support to ensure sufficient quality leads; and leading our social media campaigns by overseeing and supporting our social media coordinator with the planning and execution of posts.Day-to-day operational oversight; the tightly-knit team co-operate to cover one another across all core duties, including reception, hospitality, or liaison with operational partners, networks and suppliers.Events Planning Planning Bayspace Platform events, including inspirational learning, social and well-being focused member, founder and public events, masterclasses, and workshops; sourcing and booking partners for delivery; managing tracker documents. Regular liaison with the Director for Programme & Development regarding programming and potential; and engaging key stakeholders throughout Cornwall and beyond. Connecting and engaging with relevant communities in support of inclusive events.Curating Bayspace events for the wider community, bringing new audiences into Bayspace, to learn about and benefit from the Bayspace Platform offering. Liaising with private event hosts to plan and prepare for their event at Bayspace, providing exemplary customer service throughout. Ensuring all necessary promotional and marketing material is up to date and engaging. Hosting tours of the event spaces, and open evenings in relation to the programme and wider objectives.Event Coordination & Delivery Preparing the event space(s) in advance; completing all necessary contractual paperwork (including T&Cs) in advance; meeting event hosts to run through preparation and planning prior to the event.Coordinating any additional staff or catering support; working with the F&B Coordinator to ensure sufficient supplies. Being present to support event hosts and teams to deliver events; troubleshooting issues which may crop up, whether technical, logistical or people oriented.Gathering feedback from events to iterate, evaluate and improve on performance for the CIC, venue, Bayspace Platform and Partners. You will be a can-doer, a creative manager, who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, realising opportunities and meeting challenges on the job; you will be an expert planner, someone who is both agile and super-organised, with an eye for detail; you will be great with people, and a strong communicator, capable of connecting with a wide range of individuals, as well as confidently being able to manage large groups. A degree is not essential for this role, but you will have relevant experience in events, hospitality, marketing, communications, education or business for example; you will care about the opportunity to deliver positive, sustainable economic, social and cultural impact through Bayspace, Platform & Partners, and you will take a great deal of pride over your day-to-day contribution to this mission. Salary: £30k per annum (pro-rata); Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week, flexible Monday to Sunday, including evenings; part-time or job-sharing candidates will be considered.
