Warehouse & Workshop Apprentice Location: Redhill, Surrey Salary: £13,000 per annum Training: Supply Chain Warehouse Operative (Level 2) — typically via East Surrey College. The Role You will be the backbone of the technical operations, split between the Stores (Warehouse) and the Workshop. This role is designed for someone who wants to learn how a high-tech logistics and engineering facility operates from the ground up. Key Responsibilities: 1. Workshop Assistance: * Technical Assembly: Help with the mechanical assembly of hardware, including drilling, tapping, and cutting materials for custom builds. * Equipment Testing: Assist engineers with the functional testing of satellite equipment and navigation systems. * Record Keeping: Ensure workshop records (test specifications and job files) are kept up to date. 2. Warehouse & Logistics (Stores): * Inventory Control: Manual handling of goods received and dispatched. This includes picking, checking, and professional packing of fragile electronics. * Asset Tracking: Maintain the accuracy of serial number-tracked items in the warranty database (Excel). * Known Consignor Status: Maintain high security and safety standards required for air-freight and government shipping (Known Consignor regulations). 3. Facilities Support: * Assist with building maintenance, work area changes, and general housekeeping to ensure a safe, rubbish-free environment. * Support the transport of hazardous goods in compliance with safety procedures. Requirements & Skills: * Aptitude: A mechanical "handyman" mindset—comfortable using hand tools and following technical instructions. * Physicality: Must be physically fit and capable of manual handling (lifting up to 15kg) and moving equipment. * Software: Basic computer literacy (Excel and Word) for data entry and stock tracking. * Education: Minimum GCSE Grade 3 (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Mandatory Security Criteria * Residency: Must have resided in the UK for the last 5 years (no exceptions). * ID: Must hold a valid, in-date Passport or ID.
