EC&I Superintendent

As a EC&I Superintendent you will typically report to the Manager and work under their general supervision. The Superintendent exercises significant independent judgment and authority to ensure that all program expectations and policy/legal requirements are met.
You will need to have a strong character, know how to be fair but firm and you must not be afraid of confrontational situations.
As Superintendent you will assign work to Supervisors, define clear objectives, priorities and deadlines and assist them with unusual situations or problems which do not have clear precedents.
You will also generally have the authority to hire, promote and/or demote staff, interpret and apply union contracts and policies, administer the full range of performance management policies including coaching, mentoring, evaluating performance, implementing improvement plans and provide disciplinary action.
Role of a Supervisor
Supervisor Definition - those persons directly supervising work activities. They are the front line supervisors with direct responsibility for putting people to work and who will typically brief their workers on how to carry out their work and ensure that they are carrying out their work safely. Supervisors play a key role in the health and safety of any contract.
▪ They develop, implement and monitor the Safe Systems of Work that we use.
▪ They are “hands on” with the safety and standards of workmanship in our workplaces.
▪ They are responsible for putting your people to work.
▪ They have responsibility to check that the workplaces in which you place your workforce are acceptable and safe.
▪ They have responsibility to check that adequate controls are in place to reduce risk.
▪ They must supervise your workforce.
▪ They must ensure they understand the essential safety requirements.
▪ Keep up to date with electrical legislaton, Codes and standards and ensureall emplouees in your charge are up to date with any changes or admendments
▪ Have Experience of an understanding of both High and low voltage electrical systems
▪ Have practical experience and skills in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of high and low voltage electrical systems
▪ Be knowledgeable in the type of tools, materials and equipment used in the electrical trade and their correct use
Qualifications
▪ SSSTS or SMSTS (Essential)
▪ 3 Day First Aid (Essential)
▪ NVQ Level 3 or higher in Electrical Installation
▪ JIB Registered Trade Card
▪ C&G 18th Edition Qualification
▪ 2C&G Electrical Testing and Inspection
▪ Construction Managment NVQ (Desirable)
