General SEN Support Assistant – September
Milk Education are recruiting for a purpose-driven, ambitious SEN Support Assistant to join a Primary School in Everton, Liverpool to work on a long-term basis beginning in September. This will be a full-time role working with KS1 and KS2 children with ASD and PMLD.
You’ll be joining an inclusive and supportive school, focused on diversity and promoting a loving academic environment for those with additional needs.
This is an exciting role for an experienced educator to join a fantastic school to support pupils in reaching their potential!
What You’ll Be Doing in the Role:
1. Provide tailored support to primary-aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), including one-to-one and small group assistance, following guidance from teachers and the SENCo.
2. Assist with personal care and daily routines, including feeding, toileting, and hygiene, ensuring pupils are supported with dignity and respect in a safe, nurturing environment.
3. Use a range of communication and learning strategies such as PECS, Makaton, and sensory-based activities to engage pupils, promote independence, and support their individual learning and development plans.
4. Foster emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour, working collaboratively with school staff and external professionals to create an inclusive, supportive atmosphere that encourages social interaction and personal growth.
Essential Qualifications:
5. Must have recent/relevant experience working with children and young people, specifically those with SEND.
6. Must have a passion for education
7. Must possess good numeracy and literacy skills
8. Must have the ability to work under the guidance of the teacher
9. Must have experience using Personal Care
