Mechanical Fitter
Location – Babcock International, Rosyth, Fife
Dayshift rate - £20.90 per hour/ Nightshift rate - £30.72 per hour
Radius allowance of £45 per day for candidates 35 miles+ from site
Contract duration - August 2025 - February 2026
Our client, Babcock International based at Rosyth Dockyard are seeking qualified Mechanical Fitters to join the business for a 6 month+ refit of the Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier.
Essential experience
• Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship qualified to SVY level 3 (or NVQ and C&G equivalent) or HNC and above in a Mechanical Engineering discipline with industry experience.
• Previous Mechanical fitter experience within a maintenance or ships environment
• You will be able to understand and read drawings and can think on your feet and problem solve with a high attention to detail and fault finding.
• Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a focus on producing high quality work to meet acceptance standards.
• Experience of Maintenance procedures, Risk Assessments, Method statements, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of work with excellent team working skills
Responsibilities:
• Day-to-day, you’ll be expected to undertake general Mechanical Fitter activities including below: • Work to engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Remove, overhaul and install a variety of mechanical equipment which could • include hydraulics, water and fuel systems and LP/HP air
• Assist commissioning teams with setting to work
• Install and align overhauled equipment
• Work alongside OEM reps on equipment
• As well as Daily routine maintenance checks, you will be expected to plan, and execute, operations in a safe and controlled manner on behalf of the company in accordance with the HSE at Work act and job specific method statements. You will take ownership of activities and processes within your manufacturing remit and ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times under “safety first” culture.
Successful candidates will need to satisfy Baseline Security Clearance and Disclosure Scotland check.
PAYE Rates of pay
Dayshift - £20.90 per hour
Dayshift Overtime rate - £31.35 per hour
Nightshift - £30.72 per hour
Nightshift Overtime rate - £41.17 per hour
Radius - £45 per day for candidates more than 35 miles from site
