Overview
Newham University Hospital is looking to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 who will work Silvertown Ward. This post is open to individuals who are both experienced Healthcare Support Workers or those new to care. Individuals that are new to care will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within six months upon successful completion of all required competencies.

Responsibilities
* Patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs)
* Assisting with personal care and mobility
* Supporting patients’ nutritional and hydration needs
* Undertaking limited range of delegated duties (e.g. taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening)
* Simple wound dressings
* Strong teamworking and communication skills are essential to ensure the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of our patien
* An excellent communicator, they have experience of working in a team, to ensure the comfort, wellbeing and safety of our patients
* The post holder will be an integral part of the surgical nursing team actively taking part in meeting the needs of patients and of the service in accordance with agreed standards under direct supervision of the registered nurse.
* The post holder will continue to develop essential competencies though training and practice to ensure safety and quality are the priority.
* The post holder will be located in Silvertown Ward as part of the surgical nursing team (as described in the role).
