The Vales are seeking to recruit a dynamic Deputy Ward Manager to join their 15-bedded female high dependency rehabilitation inpatient unit at Discovery House. Applicants must possess attitudes and values that reflect the excellent standards expected within the Vales team. This role focuses on working towards independence and recovery for women with severe and enduring mental ill‑health in a locked environment, supporting their ongoing recovery and social integration.
Responsibilities
* Lead the nursing team and provide clinical services within the policies, protocols and clinical procedures of Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust.
* Work as part of a user‑focused, accessible and responsive nursing service, safe, supportive and competent for people experiencing severe, enduring and complex trauma mental health problems.
* Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care within agreed limitations.
* Provide management supervision to Band 5 and Band 3 staff.
* Be directly involved in quality improvement initiatives and implement processes.
* Complete audits and provide assurance of practice standards.
* Undertake managerial duties in the absence of the Ward Manager.
* Implement evidence‑based practice in the provision of treatment and care to clients.
* Be accountable for own personal clinical caseload using resources as appropriate.
* Select appropriate assessment tools for assessing specific client needs and risks.
* Demonstrate sound clinical decision‑making skills that are in the interests of the client.
* Provide skilled clinical supervision to others.
* Apply health‑enhancing skills in a wider group / community setting.
* Apply self‑awareness to reflections on nursing practice.
* Work flexible hours, which may include evenings, weekends and bank holidays, and support and cover other areas within inpatients as required.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse in Mental Health or Learning Disability.
* Ability to work a range of flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
* Experience in leadership and management within a high‑dependency rehabilitation environment.
* Knowledge of clinical and managerial duties in a mental health setting.
