The role
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, innovative and inspirational teacher with the passion and enthusiasm to fulfil a key role in the school as a Teacher of History. This post would suit somebody looking for their first teaching role, or someone with more experience, who would like to work in a thriving curriculum area. The key is that you are enthusiastic and capable of contributing to a highly effective and supportive teaching team.
The History department at Weydon are a highly experienced team of staff who have collaboratively developed an outstanding curriculum making the subject incredibly popular amongst students with over half of students selecting History as a GCSE option.
Classroom teaching is of the highest quality and delivered in an engaging and consistent way with regular continued professional development aimed at constantly improving the curriculum and the pedagogy used to teach it. The History team run a range of extra-curricular opportunities including History Film Club, trips to local lectures and talks, guest speakers. There is also a regular optional international trip to Berlin.
History is part of the wider Humanities faculty alongside Geography, RE and PSHE. This wider team is incredibly supportive, experienced and approachable - we often meet in the Hub (our staff room) at break and lunchtime and arrange evening meals out during the course of the year
