We’re Severn Trent, and we think water is wonderful. We serve 4.8 million households and businesses across the UK. This role is for a Senior Process Scientist to support Sewage Treatment Works across the Midlands.
Role responsibilities include attending sites, working closely with operations teams, providing process guidance, maintaining compliance, supporting capital projects, root cause investigations, and optimizing performance. The role will focus on process emissions as part of our Net Zero Carbon drive.
Key Accountabilities
* Develop wastewater recycling approach to process emissions through research, monitoring, and hypothesis testing.
* Lead delivery of environmental compliance (ODI and EPA).
* Proactively recognise processes not working within acceptable parameters, identify and mitigate issues.
* Complete full root cause analysis, process reporting on permit breaches, and cascade lessons across the business.
* Coordinate process response to incidents and take a key role in process recovery and generating recovery plans.
* Set and review golden measures performance triggers.
* Assess impact of taking assets out of service at medium and high risk.
What You’ll Bring
Knowledge of sewage and sludge treatment processes, scientific background, effective problem solving skills, stakeholder influence. Experience in a sampling/analysis environment and using various IT systems preferred. A full UK driving licence is required.
