Overview
Telford and Wrekin Council are seeking to appoint a committed careers professional to join our FutureFocus Careers Team. The position is part-time and permanent. We are looking for a flexible, passionate individual that will work with young people to help them to make positive post 16 choices and successful progressions into further education, training and employment opportunities. FutureFocus delivers pre and post 16 careers services to local schools with a case work approach to young people not in education, employment or training.
Role and responsibilities
You will be mobile to meet young people and their families at places that suit them, initially operating from the FutureFocus drop-in centre in Southwater One, Darby House. You will bring experience, credibility and build effective relationships with individuals on your caseload, using a range of strategies to help young people make appropriate career choices, motivate action and support transitions between school and post-16 options and from post-16 onwards. The post will work with local schools and post-16 providers to help young people move forward in their transitions to further learning, training, employment or other appropriate services.
Requirements
This role delivers both statutory and traded services within schools/colleges. Due to National Professional Standards, it is a requirement of all Careers Advisers to hold a minimum of a Level 4 qualification in Careers Guidance/Information, Advice and Guidance and to work towards Level 6. Applicants without this qualification will not be shortlisted.
The role involves working across Telford & Wrekin; therefore the successful applicant will hold a full driving licence and have a car available and insured for business use.
Please note: employees who are at risk will be considered first for this position. Only if an appointment is not made will other candidates be considered.
