Introduction
Are you looking for a rewarding role working for an intersectional feminist organisation? If so, we have an incredible opportunity for you to join our team as Advice Caseworker at Solace Women's Aid.
We exist to end the harm caused by gender-based violence. Our aim is to work to prevent violence and abuse, as well as providing services to meet the individual needs of survivors, particularly women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives, free from abuse.
Our Values and Approach
Our core values reflect our history and were developed in consultation with staff and service users. Feminism and intersectionality are key to our work. We are committed to principles of being survivor-led, trauma-informed, empowering, diverse, anti-racist, and anti-discriminatory.
About the Service
The Advice Team provides a specialist proactive service to survivors of Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) through our advice line, covering 16 boroughs of London. This involves ongoing liaison with partner agencies and internal and external services, supporting survivors, professionals, and third parties with complex issues at all stages of risk. The service includes specialist projects supporting survivors with in-depth casework.
About the Role
The role involves working on our advice line providing one-off short-term support to survivors, third parties, and professionals, as well as managing a small caseload for longer-term casework.
You will participate in the rota to cover the phone line, respond to emails and referrals, and work collaboratively with other services to ensure women’s support needs are met. Responsibilities include carrying out risk and needs assessments, safety planning, individual support planning, advocating with external agencies, and providing in-depth casework.
About You
You will have a passion for working with survivors of gender-based violence and understand its impact on women and children. You should be experienced in managing complex workloads, working to tight deadlines, and working independently. Skills in risk assessment, problem-solving, and clear communication are essential. Experience in confidentiality and trauma-informed support is required. We value interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to our purpose, even if you do not meet all the criteria listed.
