An exciting opportunity has arisen at a thriving independent school in Fareham for a dynamic and dedicated part-time Science Teacher to join the experienced and forward-thinking academic team from September 2025.
The school offers a warm, inclusive learning environment where curiosity is celebrated and every child is known. As an all-through setting, they pride themselves on nurturing a love of learning from the early years right through to GCSE.
This role involves teaching Science to students in Years 7-11, with the potential to extend into Years 5 & 6, offering a unique opportunity to shape scientific thinking from a younger age.
* Deliver engaging, practical and purposeful Science lessons across KS3 and KS4 in line with the departmental Schemes of Learning and handbook.
* Inspire students to think critically, question the world around them, and develop scientific literacy in a hands-on, inquiry-driven environment.
* Contribute to the design and refinement of the curriculum to ensure a cohesive learning journey from Year 5 through to GCSE.
* Use a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to track progress and inform teaching.
* Provide support, stretch and challenge for learners of all abilities, ensuring inclusive classroom practice.
* Collaborate closely with colleagues to contribute to cross-curricular initiatives and enrichment events such as Science Week, STEM fairs, and eco-projects.
* Support the school's ethos of kindness, creativity and ambition by modelling professional standards and building strong relationships with pupils, staff and families.
* Holds QTS (or equivalent) and has experience teaching Science to students aged 11-16; experience with younger year groups is desirable but not essential.
* Brings genuine passion for the subject, ideally with specialism in Biology, Chemistry or Physics (generalist Science also welcomed).
* Understands how to inspire and motivate students in a small-class, high-expectation environment.
* Is confident working within a close-knit team where innovation, initiative and collaboration are highly valued.
* Enjoys the distinctive atmosphere of an independent school, where pastoral care is integral and teacher-pupil relationships are respectful, warm and impactful.
