Playworker – Afterschool Club

Hours: 3:00pm – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time and Holidays)

Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a strong and well-experienced team at an Ofsted Registered Outstanding School. The successful candidate will become an integral part of Kickstarts' childcare team, delivering high-quality wraparound care in our afterschool club provision. The role involves engaging children aged 3–11 in fun, safe and stimulating activities, while providing excellent customer service to children, parents and carers.
Key Responsibilities
· Engage and play with children aged 3–11 in a safe and inclusive environment.
· Plan, deliver and evaluate sessions and activities that promote creativity, physical activity and social development.
· Work collaboratively with the Head of Childcare and colleagues to ensure a high standard of customer service.
· Liaise with partner schools to maintain strong relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
· Support colleagues to uphold standards and maintain quality provision.
· Assist the Head of Childcare with operational matters as required.
· Attend and contribute to weekly team meetings to share ideas and improve practice.
· Promote the organisation through social media and other appropriate channels.
· Respond to customer queries effectively, offering solutions and reassurance.
· Deliver an excellent service that reflects the values of Kickstarts Childcare.
· Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all children.
· Maintain high standards of food hygiene when preparing snacks.
· Demonstrate a sound understanding of Paediatric First Aid.
· Undertake any other duties necessary for the smooth running of the club.
Education, Qualifications and Training
· Essential:
· Level 3 or above qualification in Childcare.
· Paediatric First Aid trained (or willingness to complete training prior to appointment).
· Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification (or willingness to complete training prior to appointment).
· Safeguarding qualification with regular renewal.
Knowledge and Experience
· Essential:
· Experience of handling customer queries professionally.
· Experience working in a childcare setting.
· Experience engaging children aged 3–11.
· Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
· Commitment to continuing professional development and further training.
· Desirable:
· Experience working in an out of school club setting.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.98-£15.04 per hour
Expected hours: 15 per week
