Role Overview
As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for generating leads and building a sustainable sales pipeline. Your ability to convert opportunities into tangible business outcomes will be essential for driving growth and establishing long-term client relationships.
This is a hands-on role requiring resilience, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments. You will be expected to develop and execute effective sales strategies that support annual growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Own the new business development process, aiming to build and manage a pipeline of approximately £20M.
* Maintain up-to-date records in CRM and associated management tools.
* Analyse market trends and customer intelligence; report findings monthly.
* Identify target markets and provide insights on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
* Create detailed project mandates and compelling business proposals.
* Develop strong relationships with key decision-makers across target organisations.
* Gain a broad understanding of potential customers’ products and their respective markets.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Solid understanding of the contract manufacturing environment, including electro-mechanical assembly, quality requirements, lead-times, and component sourcing.
* Strong commercial acumen with awareness of revenue streams, gross margins, start-up costs, and development contract implications.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Place of Work
This is a hybrid role with frequent travel required across the UK and occasional travel abroad. While home-based, regular presence at the company’s manufacturing site is expected when not attending customer or prospect meetings. A valid UK driving licence and up-to-date passport are essential.
Remuneration Package
* Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 (dependent on experience and skills)
* Car: £600/month car budget + fuel or £500/month car allowance + mileage reimbursement
* Bonus: Discretionary bonus based on company performance - 10%
Working Hours:
* 37 hours/week
* Mon–Thurs: 08:30–17:00
* Fri: 08:30–13:30
Holiday: 25 days + Bank Holidays (includes Christmas shutdown)
* Bookable by the hour
