Join to apply for the Technician - Commercial Livestock role at The Windsor Forest Colleges Group. Windsor Forest Colleges group is looking for a Technician – Commercial Animals within our Animal Management Centre to join our BCA College team on a Fixed Term, Term-Time Only basis (37 weeks TTO).
Technician – Commercial Animals is a fixed-term, term-time only position at Berkshire College of Agriculture. This role involves working 24 hours per week on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays 08:00 – 17:00 with a 1-hour unpaid break.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside curriculum and support staff to deliver practical agricultural activities and ensure the welfare of farmed livestock.
* Collaborate with the Livestock Manager and adhere to high standards of animal welfare in compliance with relevant legislation.
* Maintain cleanliness in work areas and assist in educational activities with students.
* Daily management of livestock, operation of machinery and vehicles, and maintenance of accurate records as directed by the Livestock Manager.
* Support students in practical sessions, supervising and imparting practical skills pertinent to the livestock industry.
* Engage in ongoing professional development and adhere to the college’s policies on health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and risk management.
* Demonstrate a flexible approach to work, including potential evening and weekend duties, while upholding the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Qualifications and Requirements
The role requires compliance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and Welfare of Farmed Animals Regulations 2007, with a commitment to high standards of welfare and professional practice. The post involves supporting students and adhering to college policies on health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and risk management.
