What skills and experience we're looking for

The Role

We are seeking a friendly, organised, and highly professional Receptionist / Administrator to join our busy school office on a temporary basis. As the first point of contact for our school, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment for students, parents, and visitors while providing essential administrative support to our staff. This is a fast‑paced role that requires a “can‑do” attitude, the ability to multitask, and a calm demeanor under pressure.


Key Responsibilities

* Front of House: Greeting visitors, managing the sign‑in process (ensuring safeguarding protocols are met), and handling busy switchboard calls.
* Student Support: Assisting students with general inquiries, lost property, and coordinating late arrivals / early departures.
* Data Management: Using school systems to update attendance records and student information.
* General Admin: Processing incoming/outgoing mail, filing, photocopying, and drafting school communications (letters/emails).
* Safeguarding: Acting as a key link in the school’s safeguarding chain by ensuring all visitors are correctly identified.


About You

* Experience: Previous experience in a reception or administrative role (experience within an educational setting is highly desirable).
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional telephone manner.
* IT Skills: Proficient in the use of computer packages such as Google including Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail or similar.
* Attributes: A high level of discretion and confidentiality, strong organisational skills, and a passion for supporting a learning environment.
* Compliance: An Enhanced DBS check is essential for this role. If you do not currently have one on the Update Service, we can assist with the application.
