Job Description
We are looking to recruit an Arborist in our Nature Services team to be located in our Birmingham office.
To support the delivery of arboricultural services across a range of planning and development projects, working closely with ecologists and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) specialists as part of an integrated Nature Services Team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Day-to-day tasks will be varied, but will include:
* Undertaking BS5837:2012 tree surveys to inform development proposals.
* Producing Baseline Reports, Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA), and Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS).
* Preparing associated drawings including Tree Constraints Plans and Tree Protection Plans.
* Leading consultation with local authority tree officers and other relevant stakeholders to support project teams on arboricultural matters.
* Collaborating with the wider project team during design development stages.
* Providing input into wider ecological and BNG-related deliverables, working alongside ecologists and BNG assessors (note: you will not be expected to deliver these documents independently).
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to high-quality, client-facing reports.
Essential Requirements:
* A recognised arboriculture qualification to a minimum of Level 3 (or equivalent).
* A minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in arboriculture.
* Strong surveying and report writing skills, particularly in relation to BS5837 assessments.
* Current membership to the Arboricultural Association.
* Good understanding of tree protection and management principles in a planning context.
* Confidence in liaising with stakeholders, including local authorities and design teams.
* A full UK driving licence.
* A willingness and ability to travel regularly across the UK for site visits and project work.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Attributes (Not Essential):
* Experience within a consultancy or commercial environment.
* Familiarity with the UK planning system and its implications for arboriculture.
* Working knowledge of GIS or CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, QGIS, ArcGIS).
* Additional relevant qualifications or certifications (e.g. PTI, QTRA, LANTRA).
