Do you want to make a difference to the most vulnerable children in care, helping them to flourish and achieve their potential? We have children’s disability homes in Eastbourne and Bexhill where vulnerable children live and receive support from a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
As a Residential Childcare Practitioner you will work with children who often have complex needs and their families. You will support the children’s development and wellbeing and can lead specialist areas and projects such as healthy eating to improve care across the service. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in East Sussex.
Full‑time roles are 37 hours per week over five days. Shift times are 7:00–2:30 pm and 2:00–9:30 pm, following a 4‑week rolling rota. Part‑time roles are also available. Please note that we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care, moving and handling for children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities.
* Support children’s development and wellbeing, including educational, social and emotional aspects.
* Work as part of an integrated child‑care team, fostering collaboration and shared learning.
* Lead specialist projects and initiatives, for example promoting healthy eating and other improvements across the service.
Qualifications
* Experience working with children and young people.
* Interest in child development and willingness to learn.
* Ability to treat residents with dignity, respect and maintain confidentiality.
* Strong communication skills and resilience needed for this rewarding career.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
