Electrical Tendering Engineer
Location: Buckinghamshire
Contract: Permanent | Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 (DOE)
Overview
An established engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Tendering Engineer to join its tendering and projects team. This is a key pre-construction role responsible for preparing accurate, competitive electrical cost estimates and structured tender submissions for a range of power and energy projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Tendering Manager and Design Team, contributing technical and commercial expertise throughout the bid process, while supporting business growth and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost budgets and electrical estimates for new contracts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and commercial competitiveness.

Review and update estimates in line with design development, scope changes, and client clarifications.

Develop and submit clear, well-structured tender and proposal documents, fully compliant with client and specification requirements.

Maintain comprehensive records of tender documentation, including assumptions, exclusions, site assessments, and commercial terms.

Collaborate with the Tendering Manager and Design Team to develop innovative, practical, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
*
Provide technical and commercial input to support successful bid strategies.
*
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while assisting with the identification of new business opportunities.

Contribute to the ongoing improvement of estimating tools, processes, and internal systems.
Candidate Requirements
*
Proven experience in an engineering or construction environment, ideally within electrical or power infrastructure projects.
*
Demonstrable experience preparing cost estimates for 33kV–132kV electrical projects.
*
Strong understanding of UK DNO (G81) requirements for contestable works.
*
Commercially aware with excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
*
Confident producing professional, client-facing tender and proposal documentation.
*
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with estimating software such as Simpro is advantageous.
*
Knowledge of Balance of Plant (BOP) works for BESS projects is beneficial but not essential.
*
Full UK driving licence.
