About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and analytical User Researcher to join our growing team in Newcastle. In this role, you will be at the forefront of understanding user needs, behaviours, and pain points to help design and deliver outstanding user experiences.
As a User Researcher, you will work independently, taking ownership of research activities from planning to delivery. You’ll act as a subject matter expert within your team, collaborating with designers, developers, and product managers to ensure our solutions are user-focused and data-driven.

Responsibilities
* Conduct user interviews, usability testing, and other research methods to gather insights and feedback.
* Analyse how users perform tasks to identify opportunities for improved experiences.
* Create and maintain user personas, journey maps, and other artefacts that visualise user experiences.
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between user needs and design outcomes.
* Present research findings and design concepts or prototypes to stakeholders for review and decision-making.
* Actively participate in team discussions and provide innovative solutions to design or usability challenges.
* Stay up to date on UX trends, research methodologies, and best practices to continuously improve the user experience.
About You
You’re an experienced and curious researcher who enjoys solving problems through evidence and insight. You’re comfortable taking the lead on projects, working both independently and collaboratively, and communicating clearly with technical and non-technical audiences alike.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a User Researcher or similar role in UX or product design.
* Advanced proficiency in User Experience Research tools and techniques.
* Strong background in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
* Solid understanding of responsive and adaptive design principles.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills – able to translate insights into clear recommendations.
* Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams within an agile or iterative environment.
* Eligibility to obtain or hold BPSS clearance.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working within the public sector, digital government, or regulated industries.
* Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design (WCAG 2.1).
* Proficiency with tools such as UserZoom, Dovetail, Figma, Miro, Maze, or similar platforms.
