About the Role
Outwood Academy Redcar seeks applications from outstanding applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role as Teacher of Geography. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, driven professional to join our Family of Schools. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of 'students first'. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential. Applications are invited from both newly qualified and experienced professionals.
Our Geography curriculum at KS3 is unique and engaging with 2 hours per week in Years 7, 8 and 9. We aim to create topics that not only meet the National Curriculum but go beyond and that are relevant to the students and the world they live in. Topics include:
* Why is our World Amazing?
* What makes Asia a continent of contrasts?
* How has industry shaped Teesside?
We are increasing GIS at KS3 and planning more fieldwork post-Covid to enhance student opportunities. Geography is a popular GCSE subject following AQA, covering units such as Natural Hazards, Living World, Coasts, Rivers, Urban and Economic Change, Resources, and Water.
The Redcar Humanities Department is a welcoming team of five passionate teachers. The right candidate will be able to make a significant impact and share our 'Students First' goal. Opportunities for progression exist through leadership or our Deeps structure, but we also support teachers focused on excellence in Geography.
