Job Description
There are 4 roles, each 35 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. One role is based at Gartcraig Depot, and three are based at Eastgate. Candidates should have a flexible approach to working patterns and hours.
You will be an operational team member responsible for the development, installation, maintenance, and monitoring of the City’s Street Lighting Network to meet service targets and ensure compliance with electrical regulations and technical standards. The role also involves supporting lighting projects and other service streams to transform Glasgow City Council's street lighting estate, including investing in LED technology and infrastructure to develop a safe, reliable, and energy-efficient lighting network.
Essential qualifications include a Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent. Alternatively, a SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering demonstrating qualifying criteria for Technician Electrician or Approved Electrician status will be considered. Candidates should also have a BS7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition and a valid Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card supported by a Health and Safety Assessment Certificate, or the ability to obtain this within a year of appointment. A current driving license is also essential.
Applicants should possess a sound working knowledge of current Wiring Regulations, Technical Standards, and Codes of Practice related to electrical distribution, and be capable of supporting budget control and monitoring performance against targets.
