Rotational Pharmacist

We are looking for highly motivated and adaptable Pharmacists who can demonstrate that they meet our Trust Values. You must be able to work as part of the Pharmacy and wider multi‑disciplinary team to deliver excellent pharmaceutical care and services to our patients.

At this time we are looking for candidates who are currently registered with the GPhC as Pharmacists.


Main duties of the job

To provide pharmaceutical services as required in each section of the rotation.

To provide a clinical pharmacy service to allocated wards.

To undertake postgraduate studies appropriate to the level of competence and availability of funding as appropriate.

The Department of Pharmacy at CUH is ambitious and forward‑thinking, striving to ensure that the patient is always at the heart of everything we do. We are a large department with nearly 300 staff comprising of approximately 100 pharmacists and 70 pharmacy technicians. We have a dedicated Education and Training team to support the learning and development of all our employees.

You will join a friendly team of rotational pharmacists supporting our Pharmacy service.

You will undertake a rotational training programme which includes Clinical Services, Dispensary, medicines information, clinical trials and Preparative Services. Each rotation incorporates dedicated clinical time and you will gain experience across a range of clinical specialities including Medicine, Surgery, Neurosciences, Paediatrics and Oncology. During your foundation years, you will be provided with a wide range of opportunities to develop the skills, behaviours and attitudes that you will continue to use throughout your career in hospital Pharmacy.

You will receive guidance and feedback to aid your development as well as gaining additional support via our clinical supervision programme. We run regular pharmacist teaching sessions within the department which includes dedicated rotational pharmacist teaching sessions delivered on a variety of topics by specialist pharmacists as well as external speakers.

We use a range of postgraduate pharmacy practice diplomas to support our pharmacists through the first few years of their careers; all pharmacists undertaking these programmes are assigned a personal tutor from within the department.

We actively encourage applications from other Pharmacy sectors. We have a 3 month orientation programme to support the transition from another area of Pharmacy to the hospital setting.

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Therefore, please be advised that if you are a Student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full time permanent contract unless you have:

* applied for a Graduate visa
* or you have successfully completed your course and have applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date of your employment
* or the Trust has agreed that they will sponsor you as a Skilled Worker and you will complete your studies within 3 months of the anticipated start date of employment

Person Specification


Qualifications

* MPharm or equivalent EU qualification
* Registered with GPhC
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society


Experience

* Post‑graduate preregistration training recognised by GPhC
* Proven ability to work as part of a team to deliver a service
* Proven ability to take decisions independently
* Experience of working in a UK hospital pharmacy


Knowledge

* Knowledge and practical experience of clinical audit
* Knowledge of ward pharmacy in at least one clinical speciality
* Knowledge of and ability to follow national protocols and guidance as well as Trust policies
* Knowledge of research and audit methodologies


Skills

* Good communicator – written and verbal skills
* Good interpersonal skills
* Able to act independently or as part of a team
* Able to recognise own limitations
* Able to cope under pressure
* Able to solve problemsAble to act on own initiative
* Flexible and adaptable
* Skilled in the application of clinical knowledge to optimise patient care/safety, relative to the level expected of a Band 6 rotational pharmacist
