We’re looking for a dynamic and strategic Repairs and Voids Manager to join our Building Services Management Team.
About the Role
This is a crucial role that sits at the heart of the Building Services Team and demands a capable and ambitious person who is capable of leading cultural change and driving high performance.
As the Repairs and Voids Manager, you will be responsible for delivering a responsive, customer-focused repairs and voids service that meets the needs of our tenants and supports the Council’s wider objectives. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of the service, ensuring it is safe, efficient, and meeting performance targets.
This is a senior leadership role where you will play a key part in shaping a sustainable service model that not only meets internal demand but also positions us to win external contracts and generate income for the Council.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of technical staff responsible for the delivery of responsive repairs and voids services.
* Develop a culture of high standards and high performance across all members of the team ensuring services are delivered in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
* Drive team performance to meet and exceed organisational and departmental targets.
* Manage multiple contractor relationships ensuring they deliver high levels of performance in a timely, cost effective, customer focused and safe manner within the agreements of the contracts.
* Use data to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that will improve internal processes and outcomes for residents.
About You
* Proven experience in managing a maintenance and repairs service
* Extensive experience of building construction and property maintenance
* Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to have challenging conversations
* A strategic mindset with a track record of improving service delivery and innovation.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, Decent Homes Standard, and HHSRS
* A commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.
This is a permanent role based at our Hazel Court Depot in York.
