About the Role
Medacs Healthcare is delighted to be partnering with Operose Health to recruit a Leas Nurse for their team at Park Surgery, Horsham. This permanent, full-time position offers you the opportunity to make a genuine difference, delivering high-quality nursing care to vulnerable groups, including people experiencing homelessness and those facing substance misuse, alcohol, or mental health challenges. About You
You are a UK registered Lead Nurse with significant post-registration experience. You have expertise in cervical cytology and baby immunisations, and a strong understanding of the Quality Outcomes Framework. You are passionate about delivering high-quality care and supporting patients with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Lead GP and allocated Senior Nurse Manager
2. Provide supervision, support, and advice to frontline staff delivery Nursing services (including Healthcare Assistants, Medical Assistants and Flu Vaccinators)
3. Ensuring an effective and practical induction for new members of the Nursing team
4. Training and development of the Nursing team to ensure that they are competent in all areas of General Practice Nursing. Ensuring all formal training and competency sign offs are well documented and shared with the Practice Manager to keep HR files up to date and compliant with CQC regulations (immunisations for all clinical staff, checking of the levels and documentation)
5. Ongoing mentorship of the Nursing team to support continued development in the form of regular consultation audits and 1:2:1s.
6. Supporting the Nursing team with revalidations locally at practice level and peer to peer across the organisation
7. Supporting the Lead GP/Practice Manager in carrying out the Nursing team appraisals
8. Working in collaboration with the Practice Management team to deliver on PHE KPIs e.g. Childhood Immunisations, Cervical Screening, Flu Vaccinations, enhanced services and QOF.
9. Ensuring CQC compliance standards are met and maintained
10. Working with the Governance Team to support with internal CQC inspections.
11. Working with the Practice Manager and GP Lead on recruitment and retention of the Nursing team
12. Liaising with ICB and NHSE Nurse Lead where appropriate around vaccination hesitancy, reportable incidents etc.
Requirements
Essential:
13. First Level UK registered Nurse / Registered AHCP with at least 2 years post qualified experience as a general practice nurse
14. Evidence of continuing professional development
15. Demonstrates sound evidence of academic links.
16. Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
17. Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.
18. Experience in Primary Care Health settings and managing Nursing teams.
19. Understanding of the Lead Nurse Role
20. Effective management and organisational skills
21. Clear thinking and problem solving and decision-making skills.
