Job Description
You’ll sit at the heart of our work to transform our planning and regulation of the water industry to improve the water environment.

We’re seeking an innovative individual to support the Environment Agency’s efforts to reduce water industry pollution through annual Pollution Incident Reduction Plans (PIRPs) and long-term planning frameworks. Your coordination will deliver significant environmental benefits.
Responsibilities include:
* Developing legislation and statutory guidance with Defra, collaborating with internal teams.
* Engaging with water companies and stakeholders to develop and implement statutory guidance.
* Building relationships with national and operational colleagues in related areas.
* Supporting consultations for new statutory guidance.
* Providing governance updates, internal guidance, and training.
You will work with senior managers, legal services, operations, communications, finance, and business planning. You should be able to work independently while maintaining effective communication with your team and stakeholders.

The Team
You’ll be part of the Water Quality Assets Team, within Operation Catchment Services, focusing on collaboration with Defra, water companies, and stakeholders on guidance and consultations. Our dispersed team collaborates across technical and project teams nationwide. Flexibility in location is possible, with some travel and overnight stays required.
Experience and Skills Required
* Knowledge of water quality, environmental legislation, wastewater discharge regulation, and PIRPs.
* Experience in partnership building and stakeholder engagement.
* Ability to articulate business needs and understand sector applications.
* Self-motivated with a collaborative approach.
* Problem-solving skills and proactive issue identification.
* Experience working with Defra or similar government departments is advantageous.
Additional Information
Support for incident management development, with training provided. The role is based in an EA office with options for remote work, with some travel required.
